These evenings at the Guilford Grange are great musical entertainment, a fun and sociable way to get exercise, and inexpensive too. You don't need to bring a partner; there are people of all ages to dance with, and in fact it's impossible not to encounter just about everyone due to the way dancing couples progress up and down the hall. A caller teaches each dance, which is always repetitive enough to learn pretty easily, and the music is excellent, with talented musicians performing on a variety of traditional instruments such as fiddle, guitar, piano, mandolin, flute etc. Light refreshments are served free at the break. Newcomers should arrive by 7:30 in order to take the free lesson, but contra dancing lacks fancy footwork so is easy to learn. Five captivating artworks span the length of an eight-foot mantle near the entrance of Maria's Gourmet Deli, where two of the works hang over top of the other three in a pyramidal configuration. Each of these small, liquid masterpieces measures just over seventeen inches square and consists of a painted panel bonded to a wood panel, which gives the appearance of a surrounding frame. The faux frame, in each case, bears a faux finish resembling marble. Pleasing colors, swirling shapes and organic patterns sometimes mix with circles to reveal artist Robert Kernodle's creative collaboration with natural forces. Here Kernodle has turned fluid dynamics of actual liquids into a beautiful art form. Collapse

This is a great place for train lovers. My daughter loves Thomas and any train. the members of this club are very kid friendly and although it is tough to keep hands off it is worth a trip to visit the Railroaders. If you are there when a train goes by outside...everybody stops to watch! (and no gift shop! bonus!) Janet and the Train crew Collapse
